Peter was kidnapped as a teenager to serve as inventor and tinker for the fae. Peter's experience was hardly the worst experience that a human could have in the fae realm. He got fed without having to fight for it, he didn't have to kill anyone, and he enjoyed (relative) protection in the palace. Unfortunately, the experience could hardly be called "good" either.

At thirteen, Peter caught the Lady's eye as a bright young thing with a lot of potential. The Lady and Lord liked collecting bright, artistic, and technologically savvy humans who could make the Singing Palace a place of wonders and maintain the mortal technology already in place.

Though he was originally contracted as an inventor, most of his actual time was spent in repair and mundane chores.

Peter's position was only stable so long as the work he did was good. He might have made better alliances in the palace if he hadn't started out as an alternately insecure and boastful teenager who was told he had singular creative gifts. The Lady encouraged him to think of himself as special and to order the rest of the staff around. That soon stopped as she got bored and it cemented Peter's reputation as someone who deserved harassment. This led to a few years ridicule and being the butt of the established staff's frustrations. However, the Lord and Lady did not tolerate open disharmony. This meant there were limits to what anyone could do to him, but also he didn't dare to retaliate openly. However, he discovered that just as he could fix things, he could figure out how to make them break spectacularly.

Peter had to make more contracts than he would if the palace staff had been willing to help him in any way.

Peter's experience wasn't all terrible, he became friends with a duck who had once been a girl, for example. Some people eventually forgot how badly his first few months went.

Peter is better able to control his anger than some wizened types. Usually he presents as a quiet type who doesn't want attention. He's become quite good at keeping things to himself and putting on a good front. However, he's still very much a wizened and he relies on malicious mischief as a relief valve for his resentment. He's also fairly sarcastic and can be sullen. However, when his control does slip, then it really slips and he goes straight into blind rage: at best an undignified foot stomping tantrum, at worst physical assault. In the end, most of his worst anger is directed at himself, but that only means that people who remind him of his flaws get some of his ire.
